New Jack Swing Hall Of Fame:
Tara Kemp
In late 1990 and early 1991, Tara Kemp made noise around the world with an incredibly seductive song called “Hold You Tight.” Originally aired on San Francisco’s 106.1 KMEL, the song quickly caught on and soon she was an overnight success. Tara seemed to make a strong effort to “fit in” with the R&B audience. Her second single “Piece of My Heart” was a decent follow-up to “Hold Me Tight,” but sonically they were very closely related. After leaving Giant Records and releasing a little-known follow-up in 1994, Tara Kemp virtually dissapeared from the commercial music industry after what looked like a promising career.
